S1 Developments bought the site in February 2015 and committed to a brave design by CDA architects of four townhouses and fourteen waterside apartments including studios, one bedroom and two bedroom properties including one penthouse. This sharp looking building was designed to provide quality modern architecture and set a new high standard within an exciting area of regeneration in the city. All homes within this unique development use large glazed screens to reflect the beautiful canal and allow residents to enjoy stunning views east and west along the canal. The land to the north of the building is owned by Scottish Canals and as part of the planning application included a design to regenerate the canal bank providing new pontoons. S1 Developments were keen to action these works while on site providing a better solution for the new residents and reduce the inconvenience of further works once living on site.
The luxury apartments are wrapped in Stanton Moor natural sandstone while the townhouses feature a textured Mystique brick to complement the stone. Both apartments and townhouses feature aluminium fabricated balcony screens to acknowledge the old coachworks saluting the industrial history of the site.
Horne Terrace won Apartment Development of the year & Small Housing Development of the year at the 2017 Scottish Home awards.
