S1 Developments successfully obtained planning permission in this prime location for 230 student beds in August 2020. The design consists of 3no. new build blocks alongside the extensive restoration of the Listed St Joseph’s House. The blocks form a collegiate style landscaped courtyard with high levels of amenity for student residents. The development is highly sustainable, with a fabric first approach to retrofit of the Listed building and communal ASHPs for heating.
Post planning consent, Gilmore Teague Ltd agreed terms with Aberdeen Standard via a forward funded turn key deal to deliver the asset by September 2022 ready for the start of the academic calendar. S1 Developments delivered the project on budget and on programme in September 2022. The development is now leased to Edinburgh University and won ‘Student Accommodation of The Year’ at the Scottish Property Awards 2023.
